What it is
Bidding in Foundry is the bridge between the scope you wrote and the money you commit. A request is built from real scopes — the same line items that drive the schedule and the budget — so what the contractor prices is what the project tracks.
When you award, the numbers do not get retyped. They become the contract amount on each scope, the basis for milestone payments, and the baseline any later change order is measured against.

Frequently asked questions
Can I bid one trade or the whole job?
Both. A per-scope request asks contractors to price a single scope of work. A whole-project request can be priced as one lump sum or broken out by trade, so a general contractor and three specialists can bid the same job in the shape that suits them.
Do contractors need an account?
No. Each invited contractor receives a private link and submits their bid in the browser. There is nothing to install, no password, and no seat to pay for.
How do you handle materials in a bid?
Every request declares its materials basis — labor only, or labor plus materials. Bids are compared on the same basis, and the awarded amount posts against the budget without double-counting materials you are buying yourself.
What happens when I award a bid?
The award turns into contract amounts on the scopes it covers. A single lump sum is split across the scopes it priced; a by-trade bid maps price for price. Once a scope has taken on obligations, Foundry blocks a silent re-award.
Can I see who has and has not responded?
Yes. The bidding board is organized by state — awaiting response, submitted, awarded, withdrawn — and send failures are surfaced with a reason rather than failing quietly.
Can I print a bid packet?
Yes. Every request and every submitted bid can be printed or downloaded as a PDF for your file or the lender's.
